   Limiting Particles

Word	Meaning	Example Sentence
Lamang/        lang	Only/just/so	Gamay lang kami nag kadto sa meeting kagina.       There were only a few of us who attended the meeting earlier.       Kadto-i lang to sya sa iya opisina.        Just see her/him in her/his office.
Halos	Almost /barely	Halos indi ko na sya makilala. (sya = him/her)        I can barely recognize him/her.        Tapos ko na! Halos-on ko lng natapos ba!        I’m done! I almost didn’t finish it!
Manga /mga	Approximately/       around (with reference to time, size and number)	Kitaay kita manga alas dose(12:00)sang udto.        Let’s meet approximately 12:00 noon.        Mga apat ka bilog lang akon baklon nga papel.        I will buy only around four pieces of paper.
Medyo	Somewhat/ just a bit	Medyo magutok ang akon dilargo.        My jeans are a bit too tight.        Medyo ma gal-om ang kalangitan.       The sky is  somewhat cloudy.
Husto /insakto	Enough /just right	Husto lang gid ang kwarta nga dala ko.         The money I brought is really just enough.          Husto gid ang hambal mo.         You said it right.

   Exercise

   Direction: Write the correct limiting particles in the space provided.

    1.     ______ ubos na ang papel ko. I’m almost out of paper.

    2.    ______ damo ang gin huwad mo sa baso. The wine you poured was somewhat too much.
